After VBS today, I took Daniel and 4 of his best buddies (Jeb, Tyler, Nigel & Joel) to the Husky Grill for lunch & to celebrate his birthday. W.I.L.D. would probably be an understatement, but they all had a great time. We enjoyed cheeseburgers & chicken fingers for lunch followed by laser tag cupcakes. Eating lunch with five 6/7year old boys always proves interesting. They were loud & boisterous the whole time, but my favorite was when they all of sudden picked up their cups & toasted at the top of their lungs, "Boys rule, Girls drool!!!!!". It was at that point that I started to think that maybe Dan should've chaperoned this outing instead of me! :)It was finally time to actually play laser tag, so we headed over to Trussville Playstation so the fun could really begin. As soon as we got there, they got all strapped & buckled in the laser tag gear and were ready to play. It was absolutely hilarious watching them. I think they were expecting some real bloodshed or something because they were very serious & solemn getting on the gear. That changed quickly once they got inside, though......lots of 'hollering' & laughter ensued. It was individual play, but they all stuck together & ganged up on two of the workers who were in there, and with a huge boost to their score starting out, defeated them in the second round. That apparently, was the coolest thing ever......to beat TEENAGERS at laser tag! Totally made their day! :) After laser tag, it was on to the arcade were they all played their little 'big boy' hearts out and won a ton of tickets in the process. We ended our afternoon at the junky toys counter cashing in tickets & got some super cool junk.....vampire teeth, slimy lizards & snakes, candy, etc. This was Daniel's first year to not have a party and I was a little worried that he may be disappointed, but definitely not so! He had SO MUCH FUN & it was a super special because he got to do a really fun outing with his best friends. I can't think of a better way for a boy to celebrate a birthday! I'm sure today was the first of many laser tag battles with these energetic boys!
