I went to Paine & ate lunch with Daniel today. The first thing he said when he saw me was "Mom, guess what??? I GET to be the table washer today!!". I assured him that was wonderful news & off to the lunch line we went. It was quite the experience & Daniel was quite the expert. He explained every detail of the process to me, helped other kids around him who were having problems & was sure to remind me at checkout to get my utensils, ketchup and napkins because I wouldn't be allowed to come back! I was wondering if I was in the right place, eating lunch with the right child! :) Then he punched in his number & waited for the cashier to tell him he was approved. When she asked about me, he graciously told her he was paying for my lunch too! Thanks, Daniel- I'm only the person who puts the money in your lunch account! He could hardly eat for pointing out all of his friends over the entire cafeteria to me. While we were eating, several kids in his class & other classes, introduced themselves and proclaimed to be 'Daniel's friend'. So much for all that worrying about him not knowing anyone in his class! I had forgotten how quick 30 minute lunches pass, but was surprised that Daniel managed to eat most of his food, including the turnip greens. Then it was time for the big event......table washing. Daniel got to empty his tray first and while everyone else emptied their trays & lined up, he had the HUGE honor of washing the table. He did a great job- again I'm thinking......is this really my child? Wow, it's amazing what he is capable of when I'm not hovering over him! He has most definitely undergone the 'Kindergarten Transformation' in the past few weeks!

That is the sweetest thing ever! Maybe you could get his teacher to stop by the house and get him excited about helping you clean!! :)
