In my bed this morning watching movies
Yesterday, Daniel decided that since the cut on his eye is all healed, it was time to have another accident. About 7:00 last night, he had a bike wreck and broke his collar bone. Thankfully, I was outside with him when it happened & was able to get to him quickly. He was in a lot of pain as soon as it happened, but we were still unsure if he was hurt really bad or just being dramatic. We tried, unsuccessfully for the most part, to get him calmed down. He wouldn't move his left shoulder or arm at all, so we started to suspect that he was really hurt. Of course, we called our sweet friend, Dr. Jeremy, to get some advice. After talking to him, we felt fairly sure that he had at least a fracture, so off to the ER we went. It was almost 8:00 by that time & I decided to try the after hours care office with our pediatrician to avoid the ER. We were very blessed that they were still there and willing to treat Daniel. After an xray, we found out that his collar bone wasn't fractured, but completely broken! Bless him! No wonder he was in so much pain! Anyway, he is in a sling now. Dr. Webster said no P.E., no recess, no playground, no bikes, no ball, no rough play, etc. for 6 weeks! We go back in 2 weeks to be sure that the bone is healing properly and if it is, she may ammend that to 4 weeks. He missed school today & will miss tomorrow and Friday too due to pain & limited mobility. He can't lay down, so he couldn't get comfortable enough last night to sleep. We were up all night. About 4:00 am, I took him out of his bed & put him on his bean bag. This seemed to do the trick & he got a few hours of sleep there. He's been ok today, but very guarded & cautious with his arm. I'm hoping he will be better tomorrow. So much for waiting six years for another accident! :)
I have to add that Laura Ann is going to be such a good mommy one day. As soon as Daniel had his wreck last night, she was all over him asking if he was ok and giving him hugs and kisses. When we said that we had to let a doctor look at his arm, he lost it & was so afraid to go. Laura Ann reminded him multiple times that he did not have to be afraid because Jesus would be with him. She was so concerned about him. Dan stayed here & put her to bed last night while I took Daniel to the doctor. He said that when they prayed, she asked God to take care of Daniel- so sweet! She got up this morning before him & immediately asked if he was better and wanted to see him. When he got up, she tried (unsuccessfully) to hug him- nobody gets close to that arm! Then, when I picked her up at school today, before the teacher had closed the door, she was asking if he was doing better. She tried again (unsuccessfully) to hug him when we got home. We can't make her understand that this is painful for him. She finally settled for a kiss. For an almost four year old, she has shown a lot of compassion. So sweet to see this side of her!

Oh, Haley...I am so sorry! That is pitiful! Poor Daniel! Tell him we hope he feels better soon.
Bless his little heart! I know that must have scared you to death! Hope he feels better soon. I'm sure it's going to be quite a feat trying to keep him from being a typical boy for 6 weeks!!
Daniel,
I hope you get better really soon. I'll pray for you along with Laura Ann! You are so brave!
Love,
Mrs. Misty
Haley, Hope Daniel is healing well. Remind his cousin Carrie to tell the tale of her bicycle wreck. I'm not sure she analyzed it quite like he has done, although. Hugs to you all.
So it's been awhile since I read your blog and had no idea that Daniel broke his collar bone! I'm so sorry and hope it's healing well.
