A Festive Super Hero & a Super Sized Tree

Daniel nearly hypervenilated when I pulled the tree skirt from the decoration box! He said, "Wow Mom, it's a Christmas Super Hero Cape!!"

Trimming the tree

The tree finally dried out enough to bring inside and then the fun really began......well, maybe it wasn't fun, but I'll just call it that. Let me back track and explain that for 11 years, Dan has always picked out our tree & has done a great job every single year......until this year. I don't even look at trees anymore because they all look the same to me and I've just learned to trust him. When he said he was about to put it in the stand, I decided to make a quick trip to town to get lights and he called me before I got back home to warn me that it was 'a little' bigger than he thought. That was an understatement.......it is huge! Way bigger than any tree we've ever had before. I'm not sure what he was thinking this year, maybe he was rushing trying to avoid the rain? He immediately started saying that he would go get a different tree the next day, but I told him we would just make it work. We had to cut on it from all directions to get it to fit into our space & it is a tight squeeze, but it's in there. The fun part was trying to get it straight in the stand. It was extremely difficult to adjust due to its size. AFTER we already had it in the house, it fell out of the stand THREE times while we were trying to adjust it, one of which Dan ended up pinned underneath it! When I got the tree off of him, he took the entire tree, stand and all and slung it out the front door, literally. It was dark, so I'm hoping none of the neighbors noticed his momentary lapse in Christmas spirit! Ha! I should probably mention at this point that Daniel & Laura Ann were in the bed while all of this was happening! He calmed down while we cleaned the water (he had already filled the stand with water when he threw it out the door) & needles off of the floor & then brought it back in. We finally got it just right in the stand & it seems to be sturdy enough not to fall again (we hope!). I'm happy to report that Dan & our marriage survived yet another year of getting the tree in the stand!! I think we both agree now that it is probably our favorite tree ever, not to mention that it has given us the best tree memory in our 11 years of marriage! We got some good laughs from that experience!!And yes, my biggest regret is not getting a picture of Dan pinned under the tree! Ha!

TOO funny! Looks like Clark Griswald got a little carried away! We had almost an identical experience last year with our tree and that is why I am now the happy owner of a pre-lit artificial tree!!!

Having seen the tree in person, I can say it is beautiful and perfect!
