It was Daniel's week to be STAR Student in his class at the WEE Center. The STAR Student gets to bring an All About Me poster to hang up in the classroom for the week & the STAR Student's mom gets to visit on Friday to read a book & bring a special treat. Daniel & I chose the book, "How I Became a Pirate" which is one of Daniel's favorites- imagine that! Since the WEE Center only allows prepackaged snacks, I had to go with pirate cupcakes & treasure bags of gold nuggets. We read the book & then the students literally inhaled the cupcakes 'pirate style' with no manners! They were all covered in red icing from head to toe (nose, ears, pants, etc.......what was I thinking with red icing??? My sincere apologies to all of the other moms!!). We all had a great time though, especially wearing Pirate masks. I'm not so sure that a class of 13 boys (really 15, 2 were absent), red icing & pirate masks is the best combination, so it was smart planning on Mrs. Misty's to part to have the STAR Student party right before going home! Daniel, of course, was 'in his element' the whole time & lavishing all of the attention. When we got in the car Daniel said to me, "Mom, you are the best Mom ever to read the Pirate book to my class!" So, so sweet! It's those tiny, brief moments that makes it all worth while & makes me know that I am doing exactly what I've always dreamed of doing......being a mom! Happy STAR Student Day, Pirate Daniel! I love you & hope you always know that you are the STAR of my life! Arggg!!
