We met some friends for the Hewitt Huskie Homecoming Parade today & had lots of fun (minus the scare with Daniel running into the street in front of a car waiting for the parade to start! Now that my heart rate has returned to normal, I think it was a good experience because he learned a great lesson!). Daniel & Laura Ann really loaded up on candy. We watched it on one street & then went over to the next street & caught it a second time. Daniel was thrilled to find his favorite buddy, Anna Whitley when we moved to our 2nd spot & she was thrilled to see him too. Her mom, Lori, said that she had been saying that she only wanted to watch the parade if she could stand with Daniel! When the parade was over, Anna Whitley didn't have as much candy as Daniel, so he gladly gave her some out of his bag. Is she special or what?? The students I taught my first year here in the 4th grade are seniors this year. I enjoyed seeing many of them in the parade. It's kind of sad that I've been home long enough that being called 'Mrs. James' sounds strange to me. Still wouldn't have missed being home with my kids for the world though! I can teach anytime, but my 'home time' with Daniel is basicly over because he is in school everyday and Laura Ann isn't far behind him. It has gone by so quickly & I wouldn't trade these years at home for the world. They are truly priceless. We hope our team pulls out a win tomorrow night. Go Huskies!
*A funny side note- this is the first year we've really gotten into the "Huskie Spirit" & Daniel is so confused about us cheering for the Huskies. He keeps saying, but we go for BAMA. I've tried to explain the difference between high school & college, but he doesn't get it. He asked, "but what about when Alabama plays the Huskies". I assured him that this wouldn't happen & that we could cheer for both!
*Another funny side note- we walked past some middle schoolers practicing football on the way the watch the parade & Laura Ann said "Look Mom, there's the Alabama players!" So funny! At least she has the colors right!
