DATE NIGHT!
Dan & I got away for a quick date Friday night in what we call 'Nanna's midlife crisis'! Ha! I have to admit that riding with the top down is lots of fun and yes, Dan is comfortable enough in his 'manhood' & did drive! We went to our favorite Dville restaurant- Gumbeaux's & then did a little cruising- which is totally necessary when you are riding in a convertable.
Happy Father's Day Big Daddy & Happy Birthday Granny!
We made a trip to Douglasville over the weekend to see Big Daddy for Father's Day (a little late) & to see Granny for her birthday. We all had lots of fun in the pool- including me- which is why there are no pics of the kids swimming! :) We enjoyed a birthday breakfast w/ Granny Saturday morning. Granny- we are praying for your broken shoulder to heal quickly! Nanna- thanks for the festive tshirts. Daniel loves anything w/ the "Camerican" flag on it. Laura Ann decided the week of VBS that she doesn't like any kind of tshirt- thus the ribbons to make it a "princess dress"! Dan & I enjoyed a date on Friday night while we were there too- see next post!

Pump It Up
We took a break from the sun today & had some fun at Pump It Up! Daniel is in heaven there- he didn't slow down for 2 hours. He literally goes airborn on the big slide. Laura Ann likes to climb in the smaller ones & bounce, but refuses to go on the big slide- it must be different than climbing on her sleigh bed to put dolls on the window sill???? Ha! Speaking of......she is doing great in the big girl bed- no climbing so far! :)
Lovin' some corn!
We have been enjoying corn (squash & butterbeans too) from Papa's garden this week! Laura Ann's baby dolls have started joining us at the table for meals too!
Slip n' Slide
Thank goodness for water to keep us cool in all of this heat! We have enjoyed a few visits to the pool & playing on the slip n' slide this week.

A "Prinpess" Bed
FINALLY, after Laura Ann's episode of climbing on the crib last week to put her baby dolls on the window sill above her bed, we decided it was time to bring the big girl bed from Gran & Papa's. The bed is the one that I had growing up. Dan made another trip to Moulton today to pick it up. She was sooooo excited about it, as was Daniel. He kept saying, "Laura Ann, your new bed is huger than mine!" We called it a princess bed, but LA says "prinpess". I'm not sure if this will solve the climbing problem or make it worse. I guess we'll find out this week! The excitement ended at bedtime & she wanted her baby bed back. Dan, as always spoiling her rotten, rocked her to sleep & then layed her down. Sweet dreams in your princess bed Laura Ann!
I am very proud of myself for making it through today with no tears, until now at least. The crib is officially finished after five years- with this generation of James children anyway. It is stored away in the attic waiting for the next generation. I just can't believe that my babies are gone & how fast this stage of life has flown by! Just 6 months ago, Laura Ann was still in pampers, had a paci & sleeping in a crib! I know I put all of those things off longer than necessary, but I was trying to keep a my baby a baby as long as I could!
Happy Father's Day...
....to our Superhero! Daniel was so excited to give his Dad a Superman card! Dan, thanks for being such a wonderful father to our children. We love you!!

Fun in Moulton
We made a quick trip to Moulton yesterday & today to see Papa for Father's Day. It was a fun filled trip- garden work, visit w/ Mamaw, Papaw, Reta & Buster, playtime w/ Okie & Domino, gocart riding, lots of 4 wheeling, a visit w/ SWEET,SWEET Ian & Alison, Gran's yummy cooking & haircuts from Gran. Gran also french braided LA's hair for the first time- what cute little girl! Happy Father's Day Papa!
My Favorite Part of Summer
One of my favorite parts of summer is the fresh vegetables from Papas garden- YUM! Hopefully, Daniel is taking note & will be able to grow a garden like his one day too!
