Our favorite Virginians (former Texans), Fred, Alison & Ian, arrived at our house this afternoon. Daniel & Laura Ann were very excited to see Ian and play with him. Ian warmed up very quickly and dove right into the normal madness that goes on here. He just happens to love trucks & cars and lucky for him, we have just a few of those. Fred & Alison had a rehearsal dinner to attend, so Ian stayed here with us. We ate pizza, made self portraits and decorated our Easter tree. It was a fun filled evening and much to my relief everyone (Ian included) went to bed without a fuss! And although there were no movies, Mt. Dew or Reeses Cups involved (the usual sleepover grub for us back in the day), Alison & I did sit up for awhile catching up when she got home!

Boosterthon Fun Run
Paine Primary hosted its annual Boosterthon Fun Run today & boy was it exciting! I guess $43,000 worth of pledges is exciting though!!!!!! Since running is about Daniel's favorite thing to do, he did great & finished the run with 44 laps while Dan & I cheered him on. Too bad he can only collect money for 35! :)

A Letter from Rosmery
Laura Ann was thrilled today when she got a letter from Rosmery, the little girl our family sponsors through World Vision. Rosmery also included a tracing of her hand and a picture of herself holding the babydoll & lip gloss that we sent her for Christmas! Laura Ann can't wait to send her a letter back!
*A side note.....she is in the Zebra Class at the WEE Center & has wanted a zebra outfit all year. I'm not crazy about animal prints on 4 year olds, but when I saw this skirt, I couldn't pass it up. She L.O.V.E.D. it!

A STAR is Born
Laura Ann joined the preschool choir at church this semester & has been practicing on Sunday nights. She was so excited the first night of practice because she thought the performance was that night! Also from the first practice, she was very concerned with her 'costume' for the performance. She really, really wanted to be a princess and was quite disappointed when she found out that she was going to be a hiker on 'The Truth Trail'. Anyway, she finally got over that, but was all upset again the morning of the performance when we got her BROWN tshirt to wear. She doesn't like tshirts anyway, but brown- 'yuck!' She said, "Everyone will think I'm a boy!" It took awhile to convince her that wearing a bow & some jewelry would make her look very much like a girl, but I finally did. Laura Ann was VERY excited about her solo & had been asked every week on the way to practice, 'Is this the night everybody is coming to watch me?' When the day finally arrived, she was beyond excited! Gran had spent the night the night before so she was already here & cooked a yummy supper for us before Laura Ann's big debut. Big Daddy & Nanna joined us for supper too. While we were eating, Laura Ann announced that "This is MY BIG DAY!" When Laura Ann finished eating I told her to go to her room & get dressed. She came out wearing about every piece of jewelry that she owns! I took at least half of it off & let her wear the rest.....which was still quite a bit! It was finally time to head to the church. The program was just precious and Laura Ann did a fantastic job with her solo........'Jesus Loves Me'. She was SO, SO, SO excited afterwards. Big Daddy told her that she was a STAR & she loved that. She called herself a 'Star' for the rest of the night! And for the record, she got tons of compliments on her jewelry and absolutely no one confused her for a boy! :)

TCSF Hall of Fame Dinner
Dan and I went to the Trussville City Schools Foundation Hall of Fame dinner tonight while Gran and Papa kept the kiddos. We enjoyed a great dinner with friends and watched Jack Wood, Ned & Goldie Paine, Jay Barker & Brandon Cox get inducted into the Hall of Fame. The big thrill for me was sitting about 20 feet behind Sara Evans all night! I had just watched her on the red carpet last Saturday night in Las Vegas at the CMA Awards & a week later she was in little old Truss-Vegas.....and yes, there was a joke or two made about that during the dinner! :)
And Baseball Continues
Daniel
Jeb
Tyler
Logan
Baseball is continuing to take up a big chunk of our spring. Daniel absolutely loves it even though his team has yet to win a game! :)
A Day of Birthday Parties!
Happy 3rd Birthday to our sweet Kate!
Laura Ann & I kicked off our morning at sweet Kate's Easter Birthday Party. Laura Ann had lots of fun in the bounce castle & hunting eggs with Kate and all of her friends. Daniel missed this party because he had a ballgame. After Daniel's game, we headed to Pump It Up to celebrate Griffin's 5th birthday. Daniel & Laura Ann both had a blast as always. And if you thought 2 parties were enough for one day, you thought wrong. Laura Ann & I left Griffin's party and headed to the playground to celebrate with her school buddy, Abby. It was a whirlwind day, but definitely full of fun!

Soccer
Laura Ann comments every week as we pass the soccer fields on the way to Daniel's baseball games, that she is going to be a soccer player. She has been practicing a lot in the yard and has managed to get Dan, Daniel & Jeb to play with her a few times. I snapped this after a heated soccer game....Dan & Laura Ann against Jeb & Daniel. She screams bloody murder if anyone takes the ball from her during the game & pretty much makes up her own rules as she goes. I'm not sure how well this will go over when she's on an actual team!

HOMERUN!!!
Daniel hit his first homerun tonight (on errors, not over the fence, but we'll take it!)!!!!!!!! He was SOOOOO excited, as were all of his fans!
Giving Dad a high five after tagging home plate
Ready on 3rd base
Nanna & Big Daddy surprised us tonight & showed up just before Daniel's game started.......some really dedicated fans!

Cowgirls Galore!
Laura Ann & I went to Meredith's birthday party this afternoon at the Willingham farm. What a party it was....complete with hayrides, creek splashing (in the 'Hahaba River as Laura Ann calls it), flower picking, pony riding & goat feeding. And to top all of that off, LOTS of yummy snacks to go along with the birthday cake. I'll just say it was Carrie Anne Willingham party planning at it's finest! Laura Ann liked the creek splashing the best. She managed to only splash her clothes until close to the end of the party when she went under from her neck down to get a rock. She didn't seem to mind, so neither did I. It was a grand cowgirl time for sweet, sweet Meredith- Happy 5th Birthday!
Game Day Fun
Grandmama, Gran & Papa came for Daniel's game today. Another great effort, but another loss for the Rangers. :( Daniel has loved just about every minute of baseball........games, practice, everything.... until today. Coach Jake moved him from 3rd base to pitcher & he was NOT happy about it. Mostly because he has to wear a helmet & chest protection & it was hot! Hopefully he'll adjust to this position or his coach will move him again. We shall see! He was more than thrilled after the game to get to visit with the grandparents, though!
*Not sure why I didn't take any pictures of the actual game.......

Randoms
*Side note....it's not extremely noticable, but Daniel CUT his bangs this week! I didn't even notice until 2 days later. He cut the bottom layer of his bangs, but thankfully he left some there to cover up his work. The ones he cut are only about 3/4 inch long! You can kind of tell in this picture. I didn't punish him because he was VERY embarrassed about it, so I figured that is punishment enough. He begged me not to tell anyone.....hope the blog doesn't count in that!! :)
