Track Star

After the long jump w/ his first medal

Throwing the shotput

400m

100m

Daniel had his first track meet today. I have to say that it was a great success for him. He won first place in every individual event he competed in- long jump, shotput, 400m, 100m & 50m. His relay team won 2nd place. Way to go, Daniel! He is REALLY fast, however, he is the oldest boy in his age division, so the competion isn't too fierce. Nanna & Big Daddy joined us to cheer him on, which is a good thing because Laura Ann definitely didn't do her part. It was really cold when we got there at 8:00 am this morning, so she spent much of the time snuggled with Big Daddy or laying on our blanket. Daniel is so excited about all of his medals. He went straight to his room when we got home to hang them all up. Looks like we have a track star on our hands!!!:)

She's Got Style!

This is how I found Laura Ann after quiet time yesterday! She was so proud & actually asked me to take her picture! Ha! In addition to the bows, she had on a pair of pajamas & 2 gowns. I don't think I've laughed this hard in awhile. I was kind of proud too. I mean, that look really took some time. How boring to wear only one bow, when you could wear 25!!!! Looks like she's going to be a trend setter. Seriously, Fancy Nancy would be sooooo proud! :) Never a dull moment.........

We headed to the Varsity from the Aquarium to eat lunch- naked dogs, onion rings, FOs & peach pies- DIVINE!!!! Laura Ann finally perked up after lunch with the help of a Frosted Orange.

More Aquarium Pics

Laura Ann watching the whale sharks

Love this one of Daniel- I'm not sure how long he sat there like this- I'm guessing about 30 minutes before I asked him if he was ready to move on. I think he would've sat there all day. So would I....it really was fascinating to watch. This was at the largest tank with the 2 whale sharks & several other kinds of shark, fish & sting ray.

The fam- all of us happy except Laura Ann. She apparently had an allergic reaction to something- haven't figured out what yet(shrimp, cats, pollen are all possibilities).......she woke up w/ red, puffy eyes, scratchy throat & runny nose. By this point in our visit, she was pretty miserable. Nothing that a good, greasy meal at the Varsity couldn't remedy though....see next post!

Laura Ann, Daniel, Baby Hayes, Caroline

Tom

We headed to Georgia for a couple of days this week for Spring Break & were so excited to meet the newest Meeks cousin, Hayes. He is absolutely precious! I was able to get my baby 'fix' for the week! We also got to visit with Pop & Granny, who now have four great grandchildren to brag about!

Nanna & Big Daddy surprised us with another new 'kitty' cousin.........Tom (if he's a boy- he's only 5 weeks old, so they aren't sure!:)

Fun at McWane

The Tornado Tunnel

Weather Forcasting- love this one of Laura Ann- I think she was confusing the weather lady with Vanna White- Ha!

At the Dig Site digging for fossils

Daniel petting a Bonnetthead shark!

Despite the huge Spring Break crowd at McWane today, we had the best time! Daniel is really at the perfect age to do everything there, not to mention that he's a boy who loves science. I've taken Laura Ann a couple of times this year without him because he's in school everyday & it's just hard to get him there. I have to say that digging for fossils & petting the sharks were their favorite things. We probably spent an hour total in the dig site. We went there right after seeing Dora & then again after lunch. Maybe we should create a 'dig site' in our backyard! We enjoyed eating lunch with the Bryants & seeing them at the Dig Site & at Water World. We finally bumped into the rest of our crew that we were supposed to meet when we were leaving- it was really that crowded. That's ok, we can do it again soon. I'm sure Daniel will be dragging me back again soon!

Dora!

Getting their maps from Dora's backpack

We went to the McWane Center today to see Dora the Explorer. Daniel liked her, but reported later on that she may have only been a "stuffed animal" and not the "real" Dora. He also said that Boots was definitely just a "stuffed animal". Laura Ann, on the other hand, LOVED her and Boots. She couldn't give them enough hugs! The McWane Center crowd control lady had her hands full trying to move Laura Ann along so the next person in line could have their turn- ha!
