Kindergarten Zoo Field Trip

Daniel feeding the Lorikeets

Ms. Elledge's Class

RULE #1 on a fieldtrip- ALWAYS stick with your buddy!

Daniel & his friend, Robby

Paine's Kindergarten classes made the trek to the Birmingham Zoo today. I think that must be a 'right of passage' or something because just about every Kindergarten class in the state does this field trip and has forever. At least as far back as my Kindergarten days which were a LONG time ago. I missed mine because I had the chicken pox, but made it up the next year when Sam's class went! Ha! Anyway, we had GREAT day, despite the extreme heat. Daniel & Robby were the only two in my group & they were so agreeable. We covered the entire zoo with an hour to spare & spent the last hour on the playground. It was a super fun day!!

On a side note, I had a slight melt down while they were on the playground watching the sweet toddlers in the splash pad. All I could think was how it was just yesterday that Daniel was in a swim diaper playing there!! And how is it possible that I am chaperoning his KINDERGARTEN field trip when he should only be about 2?? I sent Leigh a text & said as much & she was quick to remind me that although those days were grand, life sure is a lot easier now that we don't have to bring the diapers along! Here's a little flashback of our Zoo Baby days......
