Daniel was THRILLED with all of the activities that took place for fire saftey week! He came home all 3 days giving fire safety speeches, demonstrating how to stop, drop & roll', how to scoot/slide to an exit on your belly so that you don't "breath in smoke because it's bad for your lungs", explaining that you should NEVER get under your bed when there's a fire because the firefighters can't find you to rescue you from there. And my favorite was his concoction of a firefighter's rescue suit/gear that I failed to get a picture of. There were countless rescues in our house on those afternoons.......just trust me when I say that not one of Laura Ann's baby dolls perished in the various fires, because we happen to live with a very brave firefighter! He also has several new friends that are firefighters and they (including Daniel) are spending lots of time 'training' together.....
The blue kindergarten hall hosted fall centers and each class rotated through all of them. They learned about spiders, bats and skeletons.......just to name a few! Fun times!
And no kindergarten experience is complete without a pumpkin investigation! I had great helpers in my group.....Daniel, Ian & Chloe. We estimated the circumference & weight of our pumpkin & then weighed and measured it. Next, we carved off the top and scooped out the seeds. We put the seeds in groups of ten and counted them. Our pumpkin had 180 seeds! Then it was time to design a face & carve. Our group decided to name our pumpkin Spooky. He lived at school until Friday when I picked him up and brought him home to spend the weekend with the James family!
