Pumpkin Carving.......

Daniel and Laura Ann had fun helping Dan carve our pumpkin. They drew pictures first, but then decided that since I brought Spooky home from school today who already looked a lot like their designs, we would carve a J in this one for the James family. Of course, no momentous occasion is complete without sugar, so we baked cookies and decorated them with icing and sprinkles. Now we are ready for a weekend full of fun!!!

Laura Ann and I met some friends at Hearthstone and 'reverse trick or treated'. We had lots of fun passing out candy and visiting with the residents and then enjoyed a picnic lunch in the courtyard.

Another Year Older........

Gran came on Tuesday to celebrate mine & Dan's birthdays.

My actual birthday was on Thursday. We went to dinner at one of my favorite places......Cocina Superior & then came home and enjoyed cookie cake......mmmmmm! Birthdays are always fun with kids!

Kindergarten Happenings.......

Daniel was THRILLED with all of the activities that took place for fire saftey week! He came home all 3 days giving fire safety speeches, demonstrating how to stop, drop & roll', how to scoot/slide to an exit on your belly so that you don't "breath in smoke because it's bad for your lungs", explaining that you should NEVER get under your bed when there's a fire because the firefighters can't find you to rescue you from there. And my favorite was his concoction of a firefighter's rescue suit/gear that I failed to get a picture of. There were countless rescues in our house on those afternoons.......just trust me when I say that not one of Laura Ann's baby dolls perished in the various fires, because we happen to live with a very brave firefighter! He also has several new friends that are firefighters and they (including Daniel) are spending lots of time 'training' together.....

The blue kindergarten hall hosted fall centers and each class rotated through all of them. They learned about spiders, bats and skeletons.......just to name a few! Fun times!

And no kindergarten experience is complete without a pumpkin investigation! I had great helpers in my group.....Daniel, Ian & Chloe. We estimated the circumference & weight of our pumpkin & then weighed and measured it. Next, we carved off the top and scooped out the seeds. We put the seeds in groups of ten and counted them. Our pumpkin had 180 seeds! Then it was time to design a face & carve. Our group decided to name our pumpkin Spooky. He lived at school until Friday when I picked him up and brought him home to spend the weekend with the James family!

Weekend Getaway

Dan and I look forward to the Tennessee game every other year in Knoxville and use it as an excuse to get away for the weekend. That game falls at the perfect time of year in a beautiful location. We get to enjoy mild temperatures and fall foliage. It is also a great way to celebrate our birthdays. We enjoyed dinner Friday night at Regas with the Chad, Monique, Brandon & Mandy. I was thrilled to sleep in Saturday morning & then Dan & I hit Market Square in downtown Knoxville later Saturday morning for a walk and some shopping. The afternoon was filled with watching SEC football and hanging out with friends. After a day full of fun, we walked over to the stadium and had a blast at the game. We always enjoy seeing Rob and Tracy at the game.......especially afterward when Dan & Rob fire up their victory cigars. It was a great trip! We are already looking forward to the UA/TN game in 2012! Roll Tide!

Surprise Visit

Gran and Papa were in town for Sam's 2nd surgery & made a surprise visit in the afternoon to see Daniel & Laura Ann. How exciting!

Pumpkin Patch at the WEE Center

The WEE Center hosted another fabulous pumpkin patch day this year. Mrs. Laura's Zebra class had so much fun riding the train, getting their faces painted and picking a pumpkin. Happy Fall!

TWINS!!!

I was so excited to visit the newest editions of the Willoughby family, Emmie & Walker. They are just perfect, precious little bundles!

When I got home from the hospital, Dan, Daniel & Laura Ann were outside playing. I immediately scolded Laura Ann for being outside in her pjs & told her to go inside and put on her clothes. She looked over at Dan and said, "Well Dad is outside in his pajamas!" Please be a better example, Daddy!!! :)

UA Homecoming = Fun with the Kings

Laura Ann, Asher, Tristan, Daniel

Our Homecoming plans were a bust when we found out that our game wasn't going to start until 8:15, so we decided to just hang out at home. The Kings decided to do the same, so they came over for some pregame fun, since game time was bed time! Fun times with such a sweet family!

The Great Pumpkin Patch

Laura Ann and I enjoyed a trip to the Pumpkin Patch with Melissa and William. Kate, new big sister to twins, tagged along with us too! We started our visit with a hayride to the pumpkin patch. Laura Ann is a great 'pumpkin picker' and after lots of searching and changing her mind, she finally found the perfect pumpkin. We enjoyed a picnic lunch next and then we headed over to ride some ponies. Besides picking pumpkins, Laura Ann's favorite part of the day was probably riding the pony. I love her smile in those pics. The last thing we did was wear ourselves out on the inflatables before it was time to head back and pick up the older siblings at 'big school'. Such a fun day with friends!
