The Training Wheels are off!

 
 
 
 

Daniel wanted to take his training wheels off a couple of weeks ago & has been practicing ever since. On Thursday night, it finally clicked & he just took off! Yea Daniel- you are turning into such a big boy! Laura Ann is still showing off her pedaling too. I was just thinking how quickly our milestones have moved from cutting teeth & taking first steps to pedaling & no training wheels!

Naptime

 

I passed by the kitchen a couple of days ago & noticed that Laura Ann's babies were all over the kitchen floor laying on unfolded paper napkins. She quickly informed me to be quiet that it was naptime & that they were laying on their mats. She never stayed for naptime at MDO, but apparently understands the routine. I'm glad that at least her babies are still napping because she's certainly not (I will have to devote an entire post soon to LA "loosing" her paci & no longer napping).

A Puppet Show

 
 
 
 


We were supposed to meet our sweet friends, the Willinghams, at the Hoover Library today to see a puppet show, but due to an accident this morning, they ended up at the doctor, instead of at the puppet show. Meredith, we hope your nose is better! Daniel really enjoyed the puppet show & thought it was really funny- especially at the end when one of the penguins had on Spiderman underwear! Laura Ann didn't really get much of it, but loved touching & hugging the puppets at the end. She also raised her hand when they asked if anyone in the audience was wearing Spiderman underwear!

Our last day at the beach was a beautiful one- sunny & breezy. We spent the morning & evening on the beach & worked in a little pool time too. As you can tell from the pictures, Daniel & Laura Ann LOVE the beach- especially running & splashing in the water. Their giggles & laughter are just priceless- I wish I could bottle it up & keep it forever! Kate loved the beach the last day too, but I missed getting any pics of her. She threw in some giggles of her own when she was dipped in the waves. I'm sure Sam, Heather & Gran have sore arms from that exercise!

A little update on LA's big girl bed experience- On the second morning, Daniel got up & went downstairs (Dan was already up). I got up & went into their room to get him some underwear, so that he wouldn't wake LA doing it & saw that LA wasn't in her bed. I went to the stairs & asked Dan if she was downstairs & he responded, no, she isn't up yet. I told him she wasn't in her bed either. We both panicked- he was looking everywhere downstairs & me upstairs. We were both calling for her. She was nowhere! Finally, I moved a pillow on the floor between their beds & saw her foot. She was sound asleep UNDER Daniel's bed! I guess she fell off the bed at some point during the night & worked her way under his bed- poor thing! The whole ordeal was probably over in 2 minutes, but I have to say that they were 2 of the scariest minutes of my life! Other than that, she did great & didn't fall off again. The 'falling off' experience was much more traumatic for Dan and me than it was for Laura Ann!

Beach Trip- Day Two

 
 
 
 

Papa had the GREAT idea this morning to visit Alligator Alley & feed the alligators. What an experience! Daniel & Laura Ann had a fun time & so did we!! The owner is one crazy guy to get behind a fence w/ 172 alligators (they don't all eat everyday or at the same time, but still.......you can see in the pic that he is in a slightly vulnerable position!). We got to hold & pet a baby alligator & watch Captain Crunch (13 ft.) & the Colonel (13 ft.) eat whole chickens! Needless to say, Daniel has been full of alligator stories today.

Big Girl Bed & a Night Light

 
 
 

Laura Ann slept in a "big girl bed" for the first time last night & did great. She & Daniel also slept in the same room for the first time last night. I wasn't sure if this would work & it does take longer for them to go to sleep, but they think it is the neatest thing ever! That is until Daniel is ready to go to sleep & LA won't stop talking. They love the "beach Christmas tree" in their room & Daniel asked if they could use it as a night light. While this set up is very convenient- Dan & I haven't slept in a room by ourselves on vacation in 5 years- I can't believe that they are old enough to do this! As always, I'm wondering what happened to my babies!

Daniel & Laura Ann got new PJs last night to wear on our drive down here. They were a hit. Daniel has worn his all day today too. Laura Ann has had these "high heels" for a couple of months now & wears them constantly, I just haven't taken a pic of them. She loves to clonk all over the house. Big Daddy brought Daniel a pirate hat last night that came to the beach with us. Who knew Superman was a pirate? By the way, Big Daddy, guess who is sleeping in a pirate hat tonight????

With the exception of about 2 hours of sun this afternoon, it was mostly overcast today. For Daniel & Laura Ann, that means a perfect day on the beach. We were out at 8:15 this morning & they both had a blast running, splashing, digging & collecting shells. They also managed to get in some pool time & of course ended the day playing in the bay.

Graduation was exciting & having Granny, Pop, Nanna, Big Daddy, Gran & Papa there to celebrate made it even better. Can't believe how big Daniel & all of his buds look!
