More Pump It Up Fun!
We met the Bozemans at Pump It Up on Friday afternoon. The kids had a great time bouncing, flipping, sliding & jumping! Then it was off to Munoz for dinner & the Daddies joined us there. Fun times!
Kindergarten Jamboree
Daniel & I went to the Kindergarten Jamboree at Paine Primary last Thursday night. He was sooooo excited to go & got to see lots of friends there. We toured the building, learned about bus routes, lunchroom procedures, etc. We stopped by his classroom on our way out. Now we are looking forward to 'Meet the Teacher' next week!!
Super Summer Camp
Daniel, Laura Ann & Caroline spent a couple of days last week at Nanna & Big Daddy's and attended Summer Camp with Nanna at church. This is Daniel's 3rd year to go & Laura Ann & Caroline got to join in on the fun this year. Daniel & Laura Ann could hardly wait to get to Douglasville to see Caroline. Word is, that they played well together and had a great visit. They had tons of fun at camp every morning. I think the highlight of camp for my two was definitely riding the horse, at least that is what I've heard the most about. And then every afternoon they lived it up in the pool, where Big Daddy, no doubt, provided tons of entertainment. Based on the TOTAL meltdowns by both Daniel & Laura Ann when it was time to come back home, it would be safe to say that they had a TERRIFIC time! Thanks to Nanna & Big Daddy for having them & for sending some pics of all their fun!

My Little Patriot
Mrs. Connie was kind enough to let us crash the church library yesterday afternoon to finish our last book for the summer reading program at church on her off day. Daniel checked out a movie in the Liberty's Kids series & watched it when we got home. I really didn't think he would understand it, but he is getting a lot of it & has asked lots of questions. He calls it the "America" movie. It has fictional reporters going through the colonies reporting on some key events of the American Revolution. His favorite parts, of course, are the calls to fight the Red Coats. He was all into Patrick Henry's speech, "Give me liberty or give me death"! About midway through the movie, he went upstairs & I thought he had just gotten bored, but in few minutes he came back all dressed up as a "Blue Coat" because the "Red Coats" are the bad guys. He did get out his red pajama shirt, though & sometimes changes out to be a Red Coat. He asked to watch it again first thing this morning & is all dressed up again. He is currently on a "mission" to "stop the Red Coats". I LOVE American history & am so excited that I may have a little history buff on my hands! It's time to break out all my 4th grade history books from the attic (see Dan, I told you there was a good reason to move all of those boxes & not throw them away a few months ago!). Jean Fritz, here we come!:)
Had to add these pics to the post........now he has out his pirate ship & is in fierce battle. The Red Coats seem to be winning at this point!
I should note that the upside down stool is the Patriot ship (you know their resources were far inferior to that of the Red Coats! :)
Ice Cream & Muffins
Sunday was National Ice Cream Day & we made sure to celebrate at the James' house!!
Daniel & Laura Ann had lots of fun making muffins for breakfast yesterday morning

THE Letter
Friday was the day I've been anxiously waiting for........Daniel got his teacher letter in the mail & we found out who his Kindergarten teacher is going to be- Ms. Elledge! I was so excited to read her letter & I do remember her from when I was teaching, but she was at the annex, so we were never in the same building & I didn't know her well. I can already tell that she is going to be a perfect fit for Daniel & will be a big blessing in his first year of big school! He really wasn't that interested & didn't even want to read the letter when it first came because he was busy 'building a clubhouse'! Ha! He finally did sit still long enough for me to read the letter to him & he just grinned really big the whole time & said "Woo Hoo" when I got to the bit about her being a Bama fan. :)
I have to say that being on the parent end of the game is a whole new experience. I remember writing my letter at the end of the school year to go out that summer to my students for the upcoming year & not thinking much else about it. As a parent though, that letter has probably been my most anticipated piece of mail, EVER! Trussville does not post class lists, so it was a very exciting day for me texting, emailing & facebooking with friends all day to find out where everyone ended up. There are 15 Kindergarten classes this year spread across two halls/wings of the school, so there were lots of options. A couple of friends said that THE Letter day would've been exactly like the NFL draft if it had only been broadcast live on ESPN! Ha!
Happy Birthday, Melissa!
The Bozemans came over for lunch on Thursday & the kids had fun on the slip n' slide. Since Melissa's birthday was on Friday, we couldn't let the day pass without putting candles in something & singing! :)
Odds & Ends....
The Blakes stopped by after Daniel & Laura Ann went to bed one evening, but they were more than happy to get up for some playtime with Tyler & Matthew!
We have been working on finishing out an attic room off & on all summer- Daniel, of course has to do his part to help!

The Target Slip n Slide
Laura Ann
Jeb's faces coming down the slide are hilarious!
Daniel couldn't manage to stop at the end of the slide
What sweet friends!
We broke out our slip n slide from Target a few days ago & it is kind of pathetic compared to the Prices' 50 footer, but at least it kept us cool!
Fun at the beach!
Daniel, Laura Ann & me joined Gran & Papa at the beach for a few days! We had a great trip that mostly included fun in the pool & the bay. Daniel & Laura Ann did lots of coloring, enjoyed watching cartoons on all the channels we don't get at home, chowed down on all of Gran's yummy breakfasts & ate seafood at some really good restaurants. We did go down to the beach for a little while one day for some fun in the sand, but stayed out of the water due to double red flags. We enjoyed great weather & there was no oil to be found on the beach (or I should say "oreol" as Laura Ann does!). We all had so much fun & are already looking forward to the next time we can visit the beach! Thanks for a great trip, Gran & Papa!

Bailey & Beautiful Beaches
Daniel with his long lost friend, Bailey (we haven't seen her in almost 2 years, well, I should say that Daniel hasn't seen her in almost 2 years)!
My view this afternoon
Daniel was beyond thrilled today when Bailey showed up to visit. Since we are staying in the house, we didn't even realize yesterday that she was here (Gran & Papa's condo one street over is next door to her condo). She was as sweet as ever & Daniel talked her ears off the entire time she was here filling her in on all the happenings he could think of since he's last seen her (we've moved, he ran track, we went to Disney, he's 6 now, he can swim without a vest and on and on and on...)- Ha! Anyway, she couldn't stay long because she had to get ready for the Jimmy Buffet concert, but we hope to see her again tomorrow before she leaves!
Everything I've read says the water isn't safe for swimming & there were double red flags yesterday meaning that the water is closed to the public, so I haven't taken Daniel & Laura Ann down to the beach. We've just been sticking to the pool and the bay. I decided to trek over to the beach during quiet time today & this is what I found.......just gorgeous!
Margaritaville on the Beach!!!
Well, actually, it was more like lemonadeville in front of the tv for us, but we'll take what we can get! At least we were in close proximity to the concert! :) Yeah, there are just a few people in Gulf Shores right now, and I seriously think we are the ONLY ones who didn't make it to the Buffet concert......
