To Infinity and Beyond

I forgot this one- someone took it Wed. night at Trunk or Treat & posted it on the church's website. It really captures the spirit of Buzz!

Trick or Treat

We trick or treated in our neighborhood tonight. Daniel once again could hardly wait to get back into his Buzz Lightyear costume. Laura Ann got into the fun tonight. She loved her frog costume & "ribbited" at almost every door. Our neighborhood is on a hill, rather a mountain, but anyway it is steep. Dan kept offering to carry LA, but she insisted on walking. She is a real trooper when it comes to getting candy! Of course, Buzz Lightyear soared all over the neighborhood with little effort. They were both thrilled to get even more candy than they already had! I think the best part of the night was knowing that Lumpy stayed behind at our house to greet our trick or treaters! :)

Pumpkin Investigation

On Thursday, I visited Daniel's class for a pumpkin investigation. I realized after I got there, that I should NEVER have volunteered for this since I have never carved a pumpkin before- that is Dan's job! Anyway, I think I chose the hardest, thickest pumpkin ever grown! Daniel & his sweet friend, Chrissy were my helpers. They were quite patient & managed to stay out of my way with the knife! I realize that he is probably the ugliest jack o lantern ever, but I am quite proud of him. We named him Lumpy, counted his ribs, described his smell & scooped out the "yuckies". Mrs. Chantelle gave us a Pumpkin Prayer to pray while we carved our pumpkins:

Cut off the top: Lord, open my mind and fill me with wisdom and guidance
Scoop out the yuckies: Lord, take out all my fussies and frownies and fill me with Your love.
Carve out the eyes: Lord, open my eyes to see all of the beautiful things You have made.
Carve out the nose: Lord, help me to be a sweet, sweet fragrance for You.
Carve out the mouth: Lord, help me always to speak Your words of love and kindness
Place in a candle: Lord, let me be a light to others for you have filled me with Your Light

You've Got Mail!

We left Daniel's Monkey at Nanna's. Since we aren't going to see her for a couple of weeks & Daniel didn't think he could last that long w/o him, she mailed him. Daniel thought it was really cool that Monkey got to ride in a box in the mail truck. It was really exciting to open him up & ask him about his trip! He must have been really tired though, because he didn't have much to say! :) On the same day Monkey arrived, so did Gran's Halloween package. Thank you Gran for the treats & Nanna for mailing Monkey home!

Trunk or Treat

We went to Trunk or Treat at our church on Wednesday night. I have to admit that I wasn't thrilled with Daniel's choice of costumes. He has wanted to be Buzz Lightyear for months & has so looked forward to wearing his costume. We've had it for a few weeks & it has been torture for him waiting. I also have to admit though, that when he put that costume on, it was almost as good as Christmas morning. He was sooooooooo excited!! He immediately went into character & didn't come out for a while. He "lasered" just about everybody he came in contact with. He stood up on the bathtub to look at himself in the mirror about 20 times. It was really cute & I decided that the Buzz costume was much better than one I would have chosen! Lesson learned: he gets to choose his own costumes & so will Laura Ann when she's big enough. Laura Ann didn't really get into her costume. She wore Daniel's hand-me down frog. She was mostly still asleep when I got her dressed! Daniel really enjoyed all of the inflatables & rides. Laura Ann watched him from her stroller, but when it came time for candy, she decided to wake up & really had fun at all of the trunks! It was a really fun night.

Is 32 old??

We celebrated my birthday on Tuesday with a pumpkin cookie cake & candles of course. The years are flying by! I wish I could freeze time! I love this stage of life with my kids!

A Weekend Away

Dan & I celebrated our birthdays last weekend in the mountains. We dropped the kids off at Nanna & Big Daddy's on Thursday & drove up through the North Georgia Mountains & Gatlinburg. We ended up in Knoxville for the game on Saturday. I forgot my camera & took some pics w/ my phone. I will post them as soon as I figure out how to access them! It was a great, relaxing trip! Daniel & Laura Ann had lots of fun "camping" at Nanna & Big Daddy's. They had a tent & sleeping bag in the playroom & roasted marshmellows in the fireplace. We were all glad to be back home Sunday night. Daniel & Laura Ann modeled their new Gatlinburg Tshirts for me. Champ's quiet weekend came to an end too. Daniel & Laura Ann joined him under the table for some hugs when we got home! :)

The Pumpkin Patch

We met Gran yesterday at the Pumpkin Patch & had lots of fun. Laura Ann loved the pumpkin patch & picking a pumpkin. She also liked all of the animals at the petting zoo. Daniel loved the hayride and the inflatables. He was covered in caramel from the caramel apples when we left, so I would say that was by far his favorite part of the trip. We are enjoying this beautiful weather. I wish it would stay this way all the time! :)

Game Day

Dan, Daniel, Nanna & Big Daddy went to the Ole Miss game Saturday. Daniel was so excited because Leigh Anne sat with them. She is definitely one of his favorite people! Laura Ann & I stayed home & did some shopping, which she enjoyed much more than a ballgame during her naptime!

Sammy the Sheep

Daniel stayed on Starry Eyes at school on Thursday for the first time since the first week of school!!!! Yea!! He has had lots of happy face days, but we were so excited to see starry eyes. He also got to bring Sammy the Sheep home to spend the weekend with us. Sammy has had a great time! :)

Yuck!

The birthday fun ended quickly at our house when the stomach virus decided to visit. Daniel got sick about 12:30 Sunday morning & Laura Ann about 1:30 Sunday afternoon. They are both much better today. I am still praying that I will not get it!

For the Grandparents

I am posting a slideshow of the DVD I made of Laura Ann's 2nd year. A warning to all of you nongrandparents- it is 150 pictures!

Laura Ann is TWO!

Laura Ann's birthday was Saturday & so we celebrated some more! :) We all greeted her Saturday morning in her room singing happy birthday (her current favorite song). Daniel served her birthday cake in bed & gave her "baboons". Then it was out to the driveway for her birthday present- a Barbie Jeep, which she LOVED. She was happy to let Daniel do the driving. Yes, we were outside playing at 7:00 am! Daddy got "birthday donuts" for breakfast. We sang again & blew out candles. My kids love to sing & blow out candles, so we take advantage every chance we get! :) After our morning celebration, we got ready & headed to Ttown for the Kentucky game. We celebrated one last time at our tailgate, this time for Big Daddy's birthday. My kids have been on a sugar high for several days now! :)

Happy Birthday Laura Ann!!

The birthday celebration continued with a Clown Party on Friday night. Laura Ann was sooo excited about the party- balloons, cake, flag. Her innocence is so precious- she appreciates all of the little things. She greeted people in the driveway to point out the balloons & flag & then it was into the house to show off the cake. She REALLY enjoyed her food (and a few other people's too!), the sweets and opening her gifts. It is fun to see her getting into all of the "girly" things. Giggles the Clown (aka our neighbor, Hardin) made an appearance. She wasn't so sure about him, but tolerated him b/c he had treats. She still kept a safe distance. The party was really great, especially watching her have so much fun. I can't believe my baby is TWO!! She is growing up so fast!

Birthday Cookies

Laura Ann's birthday was Saturday, so I took cookies for her class on Thursday. She, as always, enjoyed the cookies & being the center of attention. It was fun to see her in action with all of the friends she comes home talking about. She talked about the birthday cookies all afternoon. :)

Open House

The Wee Center hosted an Open House last Thursday. We got to go in Daniel's Sheep class & see what he's been doing so far. He was really excited to show us his all about me book!

Erin Nolen Pictures

http://www.erinnolenphotography.com/james/

I was so excited to finally have pictures made with Erin Nolen last week! I am posting the link. She does such a great job. Daniel wasn't still for a second & she still managed to get some good ones of him! Thanks to Sally Coulson for recommending her!!
